Sober Thought of the Day
“Always do sober what you said you’d do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut.”  Ernest Hemingway

This Psalm makes me think of gratitude. I’m grateful for this life of sobriety. The things I miss cannot compare to the things I’ve gained from trudging this road of happy destiny. As it says perfectly, “From his distress He saved him.”  Number 9

Psalm of the Day
Responsorial Psalm PS 34:2-3, 4-5, 6-7

R. (9a) Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.

I will bless the LORD at all times;
his praise shall be ever in my mouth.
Let my soul glory in the LORD;
the lowly will hear me and be glad.
R. Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.

Glorify the LORD with me,
let us together extol his name.
I sought the LORD, and he answered me
and delivered me from all my fears.
R. Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.

Look to him that you may be radiant with joy,
and your faces may not blush with shame.
When the poor one called out, the LORD heard,
and from all his distress he saved him.
R. Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.

Today’s Saint
“Whether, therefore, we receive what we ask for, or do not receive it, let us still continue steadfast in prayer. For to fail in obtaining the desires of our heart, when God so wills it, is not worse than to receive it; for we know not as He does, what is profitable to us.”
-St. John Chrysostom
