Sober Thought of the Day
Recent scientific research has discovered new avenues of treatment by showing conclusively that addiction is a chronic physical disease that attacks the brain, damaging key parts of the limbic system and cerebral cortex. Healing the Addicted Brain

For a long time I knew I had a problem with drinking but I was unwilling to do what needed to be done in order to stop. Now that I am sober, I find it is easier to stay on this recovery track. I made the about face, the u-turn to head in the other better direction. Now life continues to flow best when I take action, keep moving away from that old life. Number 9

Psalm of the Day
Responsorial Psalm PS 27:1, 7-8, 8-9, 13-14

R. (1a) The Lord is my light and my salvation.

The LORD is my light and my salvation;
whom should I fear?
The LORD is my life’s refuge;
of whom should I be afraid?
R. The Lord is my light and my salvation.

Hear, O LORD, the sound of my call;
have pity on me, and answer me.
Of you my heart speaks; you my glance seeks.
R. The Lord is my light and my salvation.

Your presence, O LORD, I seek.
Hide not your face from me;
do not in anger repel your servant.
You are my helper: cast me not off.
R. The Lord is my light and my salvation.

I believe that I shall see the bounty of the LORD
in the land of the living.
Wait for the LORD with courage;
be stouthearted, and wait for the LORD.
R. The Lord is my light and my salvation.

Today’s Saint
“It is foolish to think that we will enter heaven without entering into ourselves.” Teresa of Ávila

A man who is eating or lying with his wife or preparing to go to sleep in humility, thankfulness and temperance, is, by Christian standards, in an infinitely higher state than one who is listening to Bach or reading Plato in a state of pride. CS Lewis
